Meeting in Apadrina un Olivo

On November 17, 2022 we met at Apadrina un Olivo, located in Oliete, Teruel (Spain). Apadrina un Olivo is a non-profit social project that, for almost 10 years, has been fighting to avoid the strong rural exodus that its population has experienced in the last 60 years.

Oliete is a municipality located in the community of Aragón, specifically on the shore of the Martín river, and which experienced a sharp decline in its population after the Civil War, resulting in an aging population. As a consequence, it resulted in the abandonment of 100,000 centenary olive trees. In 2014, the organization promoted and created the project Apadrina un Olivo as a dynamizing engine for the local economy, as job creators and for the recovery of olive tree cultivation for the production of olive oil.
